Students First. Excellence and Integrity in Education. Pathways to Good Jobs.

Welcome!
Los Rios Community College District is where opportunity becomes real. It is where students start, accelerate, restart, and reimagine their futures. It is also one of the most important workforce engines in our region.
I am running for Area 6 Trustee because the future of our students and our regional economy depends on experienced, steady, and collaborative leadership, especially at a time when public education requires thoughtful, principled governance.
I bring years of public school board governance, deep workforce and education policy experience as Executive Director of a statewide organization focused on workforce development and training, and the lived perspective of a mom with a student currently attending a Los Rios college.
Students First
Los Rios serves dually enrolled high school students, recent high school graduates, returning adults, student parents, veterans, immigrants, and first-generation college students. I understand these transitions because I live them and have governed within the systems that shape them.
I will prioritize campus safety, strong student support services, partnerships, and clear, affordable pathways into and through certificates, degrees, transfer, and careers.
Students should not have to navigate a maze to reach opportunity.
High-Quality Education Through Collaboration That Leads to Good Jobs
Access alone is not enough. Students deserve high-quality instruction, the supports they need to succeed, relevant training, and programs that lead to real opportunity.
I will support excellence in teaching and learning and work collaboratively with trustees, district leadership, administrators, faculty, classified professionals, students, labor partners, community partners, and employers. Leadership should never be about division. It is always about partnership.
I will support the alignment of programs with regional workforce demand, and strong partnerships so that students in every pathway can attain family-sustaining employment and continued opportunities.
Education is the doorway to stability and economic mobility. I am dedicated to ensuring that Los Rios delivers on that promise.
Protecting Academic Integrity
Community colleges must remain places of learning grounded in facts, science, and honest inquiry.
Education is not about censorship or rewriting history. It is about equipping students with accurate information, critical thinking skills, and the ability to draw their own conclusions.
As Trustee, I will defend academic integrity, support educators, and ensure that Los Rios continues to provide truthful, evidence-based instruction.
I would be proud to serve alongside current leaders and our community in leading Los Rios into its next chapter of service to students, families, and our regional economy.
Vote Zima for experienced leadership, strong partnerships, and a clear focus on students.
Sincerely,
Zima
